Administration and administrative reforms in Europe

This textbook is intended to introduce the study of public administration from a comparative perspective and to give an overview of administrative systems and administrative reforms in Europe. The authors thus present the first textbook on comparative administrative science in German. For students, teachers as well as practitioners and other readers interested in comparative questions of public administration, administrative policy and reform, the subject matter and the analysis concepts of comparative administrative science are presented. The authors go into more detail on the basic characteristics of public administration in six countries (Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain, Sweden and Hungary), which represent essential administrative profiles in Europe. In addition, current administrative reforms are compared and the extent to which the different administrative systems have converged or their respective national characteristics persist.
